Mike specialises in researching patentability of inventions, and drafting patent specifications for new inventions, especially in the fields of mechanical, process, electronic and e-commerce.
Mike also prosecutes patent applications in most large jurisdictions around the world, including Europe, Australia, USA, Canada, China, Mexico, Eurasia, and Singapore.
Mike has experience in a broad range of technology areas including:
- mining and heavy industry;
- project engineering;
- timber and timber impregnation;
- e-commerce;
- injection moulding;
- fire retardation and logistics; and
- materials handling and logistics.
As part of his role, Mike:
- advises on patentability and design registrability; and
- conducts infringement and freedom to operate searches and assessments.
Before he joined A J Park in 2006, Mike worked for a South African intellectual property attorney firm. He gained 6 years experience in all aspects of IP law, including commercial arrangements for intellectual property, negotiating and preparing IP/IT licensing agreements, technology development, manufacturing and supply agreements. He also has specialised previously in the valuation of IP.
Mike is a fellow of the South African Institute of Intellectual Property Law.
