Allan joined A J Park Law as a partner in 2003. He is a commercial lawyer specialising in intellectual property and technology.

Allan advises on the commercialisation of technology. He works seamlessly with A J Park's patent attorneys to thoroughly understand clients' technologies. Together they formulate strategies with clients to develop, protect and commercialise their technologies.

Allan's expertise includes negotiating, drafting and advising on:

  • research and development agreements including collaboration agreements with overseas institutions and companies;
  • confidentiality, non use and restraint of trade agreements;
  • contracts for the protection and exploitation of intellectual property, trade secrets, confidential information and know-how;
  • strategic alliance and joint venture arrangements;
  • contracts for the licensing and assignment of intellectual property;
  • franchise, dealership and distribution agreements.
Allan graduated with Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Laws (Hons) degrees from Otago University.  He was admitted to the bar in February 1994 and was a partner of a large commercial law firm before joining A J Park.
