The Copyright (Infringing File Sharing) Amendment Bill had its first reading on 22 April 2010. The Bill repeals Section 92A of the Copyright Act and replaces it with a three-notice system to deter illegal file sharing of copyright material on the internet.

The Bill has been referred to the Commerce Select Committee and the public are now invited to make submissions on it. The closing date for submissions is 17 June 2010.
