Dan is an associate of both our trade marks and advertising law teams in our Wellington office.
His main focus is to help clients:
- choose, protect, exploit and enforce their trade mark rights in New Zealand and overseas;
- market their products in accordance with New Zealand's marketing laws and codes; and
- prevent their competitors from marketing products in breach of New Zealand's marketing laws and codes.
Dan has specialised in Intellectual Property since 2000. He joined A J Park in 2006 after three years as a solicitor in London with Bristows, one of Europe's largest IP firms. While in London Dan was seconded to Diageo as IP Counsel and worked briefly within Unilever's IP team.
Dan presents on branding and marketing law at the Victoria University of Wellington School of Design. He is the editor of the New Zealand trade mark and domain name chapters of Katzarov's Manual on Industrial Property and writes regularly in the areas of marketing and brand law.
He is a member of the Wellington District Law Society and the Intellectual Property Society of Australia and New Zealand (IPSANZ).
