Simon is an intellectual property litigation specialist and a senior member of the Wellington litigation team.

Simon joined A J Park in 1997 and is primarily involved in litigation proceedings on a range of intellectual property matters including disputes involving copyright, trade marks, patents, designs, Fair Trading Act issues, and confidential information.

Simon is also involved in proceedings held in the Intellectual Property Office of New Zealand (IPONZ).  This includes being responsible for all aspects of proceedings relating to trade mark and patent matters that are held before the Commissioner of the IPONZ.

Simon's particular area of interest is copyright law.  Simon advises on all aspects of copyright law with an emphasis on copyright litigation.  He provides copyright advice on a variety of topics including industrial designs, artistic works (for example sculptures, paintings, and architectural drawings), literary works, music, film, and digital copyright works.

Simon advises a wide variety of clients.  New Zealand clients that he has acted for include Tower Insurance, Kathmandu, Steel & Tube Holdings, Massey University, and Wellington Combined Taxis.  Overseas clients that Simon has acted for include NFL Properties, Nestle, Ferrero, Jack Daniel's, Wyeth, and The Coca-Cola Company.

Simon is a regular contributor to the firm's newsletter, IP Newz. He also contributes articles to local and international legal publications on IP issues and in particular on copyright law. Simon also tutors subjects in-house for patent attorney registration exams.

Simon is a Fellow of the New Zealand Institute of Patent Attorneys, a member of the New Zealand Law Society, a member the Intellectual Property Society of Australia and New Zealand, and a member of the Internet Society of New Zealand.
